Chapter 1 The Bloody Yumen Pass
Year 576 of the Xu Dynasty. The Emperor Zhao has died, and the new emperor was enthroned. The kingdom entered a flourishing age and the world of martial arts was peaceful. The building named Bagua was one of the most secret of places, and home to high-end talent. So, many warriors would like to go there and give it a shot.
“The Bagua Building has eight headquarters. We are the third one, which is in charge of the business of the martial world. If you want to be a guest of our building, you should get to know these three people.” The person introducing everything was a young boy of about twelve, who wore a long, dark purple dress. Though his skin was dark, his face looked handsome. Behind him was a strong man with a blade hung on his back.
“Which three?” The strong man showed his sincere respect to the young boy. “Please introduce me, superintendent.”
The young man seemed to really like this strong man; he pointed with his right hand where the three were.
Then the strong man saw something interesting.
“No, no, I won’t go even you if plan to kill me.” A good-looking young man in black was now hugging a big pillar in order to escape from someone.
The superintendent felt so awkward; he tried to fix this impression, saying, “The one who is hugging the post and crying is Chu Yunjiang. Though he acts like a wailing woman, he is powerful.”
“If you keep up like that, I will cut off your hand. Don’t you believe me?” A girl had her arms around Chu Yunjiang’s waist as she tried to pull him off. “If you don’t go with me immediately, the corpse will turn dark!” However, she couldn’t get him to release his hands. The next minute, the girl took out a skiver and stabbed it into the post. Chu was frightened by her.
At this moment, the visitor saw clearly the face of Chu Yunjiang, and he couldn’t help but praise in heart, thinking to himself, What a good-looking one!
However, the superintendent was still stewing in his embarrassment. “The girl dressed in silver decorations from top to bottom is Lady Kewuzunaka, whose Chinese name is Feng Yinjue.”
“The demon doctor who specializes in venomous insects?” The man was surprised. When Feng Yinjue turned to take a look at them, he found she was a pretty perfect girl, like a fairy who’d just descended from the sky.
“We don’t need to check the body this time. It was stolen.” Another one who was wearing the office dress of the Dalisi Department (responsible for detective issues) was sitting nearby, drinking a cup of tea.
“Who is that?” the strong man asked.
The superintendent became excited when he talked about him. “That is my hero, with an outstanding appearance and inner quality, the son of the princess, the emperor’s older sister, Li Xun. He is the youngest leader of Dalisi, who has solved many difficult cases in the few months he’s been on board.”
The strong man understood that he was the superintendent’s idol.
“If I become a member of the third HQ, would you take care of me?” The strong man bowed to him and asked, “May I ask a question? How did the three come to meet?”
“Su Xiao, go get your notebook. If Li Xun lies to me again this time, he should become Feng Yinjue’s white mouse.” Chu Yunjiang called the boy. Though he had stopped crying, he hadn’t recovered from his childish behavior.
The superintendent shook his head and sighed at the questioner, saying, “The three had a misunderstanding.”
While passing by the desert of the Longyou area, the tribute team of envoys led by Awuqie almost died in a violent tornado of dust. They were fortunate enough to have the residents’ help in an oasis nearby. Then the survivors also had a chance to take a rest.
“We will arrive at Yumen Pass in two days. Someone will get us at the courier station.” Awuqie was drinking some water in a waterskin; his gray pupils were staring at the lake in front of them.
He was speaking the pure Chinese of the central plains. Though he was not a Tieler, he’d won the heart of the king of Tiele.
The wind was blowing the lake water.
This lake was small, but it was enough to support a little tribe in the desert. The tribe was a branch of an east tribe, with about 100 people. They survived thanks to this oasis and camels. Sometimes, they could hunt wild foxes for food. On days of feasting, they lit campfires and celebrated.
Awuqie took another look at the leader of the tribe, AShina. He was an elder, and he knew that they were going to offer some treasures to the new emperor for his ascension. This team was the second envoy team they’d saved from a tornado this year.
